Strong customer service and teamwork skills are important in this position, and the account manager should be knowledgeable about their company's services and products to make appropriate pitches to customers and answer any questions that they might have. Account managers should also pay attention to clients' needs to find products and services that will fit them best. They may also work with the finance team to collect payments from clients. In some positions, the account manager must find new clients and reach out to them by phone, mail, e-mail and/or in person. It is important to have strong presentation skills as well.
Some account manager for sales positions require a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in sales or marketing; experience with sales, advertising and/or account management 'is generally required or preferred.
