Senior technical analysts lead the way in the installation of software programs on computer equipment within the company. In addition, they implement remote access for increased convenience when repairing issues at other locations. One of their main responsibilities is to create an inventory of equipment to improve the management of company resources. Senior technical analysts keep accurate logs, and complete reports for corporate records. Most of the time senior technical analysts work on monitoring server infrastructure, and if an issue is found, they follow specific steps according to company policies to fix it in a timely manner.
Most senior technical analysts work during regular business hours, and they should also have easy access to paper and electronic documentation of software and hardware programs. They assist computer developers to debug existing applications using new technology and current programming languages.
A bachelor's degree in information technology is required for senior technical analysts. Work experience in a similar position and technical certifications are a plus. They should also have strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and writing skills. They must be good at multitasking, as they handle several tasks related to technical analysis at the same time.
