The senior marketing director is responsible for determining the marketing plan to be used and overseeing all of the aspects involved in a product’s marketing and promotion. Advertising efforts via print, broadcast, and the Internet fall within the director's control, requiring careful coordination with the appropriate departments within the company. A senior marketing director must be aware of current market conditions and trends and be prepared to adjust the marketing of a product accordingly. The senior marketing director also sets the budgets for marketing. Additionally, they delegate many tasks to lower-level managers and oversee their adherence to the organization's overall vision; they also supervise the progress of the overall marketing plan, making changes and adjustments as needed and communicating them to the appropriate subordinates.
