Job Description for Employee Relations Specialist

Positions as an employee relations specialist exist in a wide number of companies in a wide variety of fields. In most cases, the primary role of employee relations specialist is to establish goals and objectives for improving employee relations. Daily tasks include monitoring and auditing company policies and protocols to determine their impact on the company's employees. Additionally, they must ensure that all policies and sections of the employee handbook are kept up to date with government regulations and company objectives. Employee relations specialists are also responsible for coaching managers and supervising managerial practices to ensure that disciplinary and performance reviews are being done properly. These specialists typically work in an office setting, although travel and teleconferences may occasionally be required. Work is mostly performed during regular business hours, although overtime may occasionally be needed.
