Oklahoma community colleges are known for their nursing programs, and many graduates go on to work at medical centers, such as St. John Medical Center and Integris Baptist Medical Center, two of the state’s top employers. Many Oklahoma politicians graduated from 2-year colleges in Oklahoma as well, including Dale DeWitt, George Nigh, and Jim Reese.

While graduates with associate degrees may not earn as much as those who earn a bachelor’s degree from four-year colleges in Oklahoma, the percentage of alumni who find their jobs meaningful is similar or higher. Oklahoma City College has a small percentage of students who say their work makes the world a better place, but about 60 percent of students at the other three schools find their jobs to be meaningful.
