Applications Development Manager Reviews

Q: What's it like working as an Applications Development Manager at Ally Financial Inc.?

Applications Development Manager:
Ally is...OK. My formal title is "Applications Development Manager", but I'm just a Senior Front End Engineer. They have inflated titles for engineers so they can pay them more. I have no direct reports and am not treated as a manager. They want and try to follow their brand motto of "do it right", but they just don't know how to do that sometimes. There are a lot more managers than leaders in the organization. Systems are completely locked down because it's a bank that doesn't know how to operate as a tech company that happens to be a bank. Compensation and benefits are great. I am just over one year in and do not expect I will make it through the second one.
