Some actors and actresses may opt to fulfill "extra" positions, which are far more common than speaking roles, while others may fulfill smaller roles in order to gain experience for major roles. For roles with speaking parts, a main challenge is the ability to memorize lines while playing the part in a believable manner. Some roles may require actors to alter their individual appearance to suit them, as well.
Practice and memorization must be carried out frequently, and teamwork skills are important in many roles, as the success of one person’s role may depend on the efforts of others. Patience is very important, as actors may perform scenes multiple times until their quality is satisfactory. There are no minimum education requirements, though acting classes and other education in acting is highly beneficial in order to develop skills.
