Payscale Corporate Responsibility
Introduction
Here at Payscale, we are continually working to be a trusted, best-in-class solution for our customers. This includes our commitment to creating and maintaining a business and workplace that is ethical, inclusive, fair, and sustainable. Just as we believe in and help our customers to develop thoughtful pay practices, we believe these areas are essential to a successful business. Payscale believes its commitment to corporate responsibility allows it to create solutions that help its customers thrive. Payscale’s sustainability initiatives allow it to focus on its long-term success while reducing its impact on both the environment and society.
We are striving towards transparency on all fronts, not just pay! That is why Payscale has created this dedicated section, to display where we are today and where we are heading tomorrow. As a company, we are proud of how far we have come, but know there are also areas to be improved.
How we operate
Payscale is a remote-first company, offering innovative cloud-based compensation data, solutions and services. At Payscale, we believe that fair pay is an essential element of a successful business. We aim to make equal pay practices an integral part of everyday compensation management for our customers, allowing them to maximize their talent investments by making fair pay decisions grounded in data. [See our Product and Sustainability sections below for more information on how this helps us leave a lower environmental footprint in our environment.]
Payscale engages in annual ESG and compliance reviews with external vendors to ensure we continue to develop and grow, as well as to stay consistent with industry best practices. In addition, Payscale has implemented an ESG auditing system, designed to:
- Automate and simplify data collection for ESG standards and regulations.
- Measure, track and report our carbon emissions.
- Compare Payscale’s progress to peers through proprietary benchmarks.
- Create dashboards to track performance and communicate strategy with stakeholders.

Governance
Payscale continues to grow its ethics and compliance programs to ensure that its business is run in a legal, fair, and accountable manner. These programs are the baseline for an effective and ethical company, and Payscale continues to remain focused on ensuring all employees are empowered to do the right thing. 2024 saw the following improvements:
- Annual review and updates to our Privacy Statement and Information Security Policies, including focus on legal changes and evolving industry best practices.
- Screening for conflicts of interest through refreshed Conflicts of Interest Questionnaire.
- Annual screening to assess third party and internal risk (partners, sub-processors, and employees).
- Vendor Questionnaire updated to include questions that evaluate vendors’ ethics and sustainability.
- Code of Conduct updated to address social responsibility and waste.
- Anti-Corruption Policy updated to include an internal training requirement for our partners.
- Company-wide training provided on anti-harassment, anti-corruption, and conflicts of interest.
- Annual ADP Acknowledgments of Code of Conduct, Anti-Corruption Policy, and Employee Handbook.

Sustainability and Sustainable Procurement
- Payscale values having as light a touch on the planet as possible. As a fully remote software company, we have the benefit of no commuting, no delivery trucks and no big factories. In 2023, we rolled out a Payscale Sustainability Policy that will provide the framework for us to track and limit our carbon emissions, specifically:
- Continuing to be a remote-first company and cloud-based solution. Investing in our ability to do great work from home saves hundreds of employees from commuting to and from an office each day.
- Offering regional meetings where possible, rather than having all employees travel to one location for in-person meetings.
- The Payscale Expense Policy encourages employees to utilize electric ride share options while traveling, along with opting to carpool and take trains or public transportation where possible.
- Payscale also uses sustainable hosting providers that monitor their carbon footprint and environmental impact.
