What is job matching? Job matching is the process by which you choose which factors are compensable for the job.
Why job matching matters? The same role can have different titles at different organizations. For example, an administrative assistant is also known as an administrative clerk, secretary or administrative associate.
Job matching looks at the compensable factors of a role and matches it to a benchmark job. A benchmark job remains consistent across different organizations, allowing employers in various companies and different industries to use it as a basis for evaluation and comparison.
How does job matching work with PayScale Benchmark? With PayScale, jobs are matched either by title or by tasks. We have a team of specialists who have matched it all — from aquatic animal husbandry to a director of first impressions.
Unsure whether you should match by title or tasks? We covered it in this Ask a Comp Pro episode. Check it out. Learn more about our benchmarking process with this quick video.
