top 5 fastest growing jobs by wages in 2023

While you may be a little shocked by the list and the order, I believe we can all make some conclusions as to why these jobs are on the list. But #5 is a pleasant surprise for everyone!

Job coach is experiencing 21% wage growth and here are 5 reasons why job coaches are in demand.

1. Why not?

On average, people now spend approximately 13 years and two months of their lives at work. The average worker spends nearly a quarter of their time on the job during a typical 50-year stint of employment.

Here’s How Many Years You’ll Spend at Work in Your Lifetime.

So, why not do the job that is right for you and for the pay you deserve?

It’s proven that you get promoted faster and earn higher wages when you have a job coach or career strategist. Almost three in four managers/leaders (74 percent) said they plan to enroll in additional coach-specific training in the next 12 months (ICF 2020).

2. The shift to job coaches

When the world shut down for COVID-19 in March 2020, companies had to lay off employees and unemployment skyrocketed. But what no one expected was how the Federal Reserve would respond with stimulus and the most aggressive rate cuts to near-zero percent for a historic time. This fueled a period of rapid growth and a hiring frenzy, creating an aggressive “employee market” that sparked the Great Resignation and fueling trends like Quiet Quitting. All these factors sent a loud message from employees to employers that employees expect and want more from their employer. Part of how employees have approached this employee-friendly market over the last few years is through job coaches.

3. Social media

If someone tells you a million times, you start to believe it. Between the human resource meme accounts, salary transparency, work from home, and career coaches having a captive audience, employees are being inundated with messaging to seek more for your career.

On average individuals will change jobs about 10 to 15 times throughout their career. On average, workers go through 12 job changes during a lifetime.

4. Economic Factors

The following economic factors have thus far helped us avoid a recession:

  1. Inflation is moving back toward 2 percent with every CPI report (down to 3.1% from a high of 9.1% in 2021).
  2. GDP is currently on solid footing (+4.9 percent Q3 2023).
  3. Unemployment is sitting at 3.7 percent, which is below historic averages.
  4. The Fed has stated an intention to cut interest rates in 2024, which could stimulate economic growth and hiring.

These factors are favorable for interest in career coaches to continue to accelerate.

5. The job market always changes

In 2023, the job market became more challenging for job seekers as employers slowed hiring, especially in white-collar sectors.

But if you fear losing your job and are worried about the job market, that is when you should lean into a career coach or strategist. When there are fewer opportunities available, you need Career Options. That is not the moment to give up on your goals and dreams. It is the time to get help from a job coach/strategist.
